Course Information

ECCE Programme

The goal of the Diploma in Early Childhood Care & Education is to prepare students to work with children from zero through age 8.

Students learn about curriculum, guidance and standards for working with young children. This program helps prepare students for a rewarding career nurturing the growth and development of young children. During their second and third year of their study, they are given six weeks of supervised teaching practice in early childhood care schools around the country.

ECCE teacher education is structured as an interdisciplinary programme, where the content is organized into interdisciplinary knowledge areas, which is organized by dividing the interdisciplinary areas of knowledge into the three academic years.



  • Children’s development, play and learning (Educational and Developmental Psychology )
  • Nature, health and movement (Science)
  • Society, religion, beliefs and ethics (Social Studies)
  • Art, culture and creativity (Practical Arts)
  • Language and Mathematics
  • Management, cooperation and development work (Physical Education)

ECCE Courses

The duration of the Diploma programme shall normally be three academic years. Teaching practice is done for 6 weeks in year 2 and year 3 respectively.

About Us

Ngwane Teachers’ College (NTC) is situated in the Shiselweni region. The college is about 3km south of Nhlangano town. The college was established in 1982 as a government institution under the ministry of Education
